Yana Gupta
Yana Gupta (nee Synkova) was born in Czech Republic and first came
to India when she married India-based painter Satyakam Gupta. The
erstwhile supermodel in Europe who did photo-ops for top-line magazines
like ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Femina and Maxim, was immediately infected by
the Bollywood bug. From that point began a journey that started with the
hugely popular item-song ‘Babuji’ in Vivek Oberoi starrer ‘Dum’.
Before appearing on the celluloid Yana had her brush with
celebrityhood having modelled for international clients like Calvin
Klein and Victoria's Secret, the elite lingerie line for whom the
biggest names in the world of modelling have shed gowns. To say that she
drew attention in Europe will be an understatement.
Before joining the ever increasing ranks of Bollywood item-girls,
Yana was named the new face for Lakme cosmetics in 2001 and also
modelled for the prestigious Kingfisher's calendar. After she appeared
in the ‘Babuji’ number her fan following swelled to a sizeable number
and since then she has appeared in a few films down south with the
‘Jogi’ (Kannada) being the only notable project.
In some unfortunate turn of events she got divorced from her
husband in 2005 and since then she has taken up a variety of projects of
being an Emcee on stage as well as hosting shows on the small screen.
Yana hosted the countdown show "Mirch Masala" on ZoomTV and also
appeared as a participant in the first season of the reality show,
Khatron Ke Khiladi, where she came across as one of the strongest
contenders
